What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., fees)?

Pricing is dependent upon several factors including size of service or number of guests as well as the complexity of the diet that may be required. Larger services and events require more detail than a small get together. And as an FYI, pricing on this website is for services only and does not include the cost of the food/groceries.


What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Savoir offers a free consultation for every new client. We want you to know the person you will be inviting into your home to cook and we want to fully understand your needs and expectations. We start with a phone conversation for roughly 10 minutes where we discuss desires and dreams about your event. From there we encourage a face-to-face meeting where we will travel to you to gather more details about the event and see your space.

Once you are comfortable with us, we lock in a date, collect a deposit and create a custom menu based on the consultation. You are kept in the loop throughout the planning process to ensure you will truly enjoy the event. We like to say, ‘you can be a guest at your own event!’


What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a classically trained culinary graduate of Le Cordon Bleu with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. I am also a Certified Professional Food Safety Manager, as well have over 10 years’ experience in commercial casual and fine dining establishments.


How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started where most people did, as an inspiring cook. Cooking my way throughout the culinary industry. My Executive Chef at the time acknowledged my passion and advised I should go to culinary school. In my second year of culinary school I learned about the Personal Chef industry and the rest was history.


What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Here are the key questions we ask for guidance in creating your special event:

• What is the occasion?

• How formal/informal do you envision the event to be?

• Will the meal be served plated to seated guests at a table? or served family-style to guests seated at a table? or buffet-style?

• How many guests are you inviting? How many guests do you anticipate attending?

• Are there any allergies among the diners?

• Are there any foods you would LOVE to see on the menu?

• Are there any foods you do NOT want to see on the menu?


What can a Personal Chef do for me?

A Personal Chef can give you the gift of more time to spend doing what you love vs getting a meal on the table. Personals Chefs customize menus and create recipes to fit your desires. Please note that menus/meals can be tailored to special dietary needs.


What are some of the benefits of your Personal Chef Services?

You will gain more time to enjoy family and friends. Our services take the hassle of planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning off your shoulders. With Savoir Personal Chef Services, you can enjoy delicious food created specifically for you while you relax in the comforts of your own home.


What menus do you offer?

We have two options:

• fixed cost "signature menus" that covers four different cuisines in addition to an all plant-based menu.

• totally customized “tailored menu" created based upon your food preferences and dietary needs. Prices may vary based on size of service and complexity of diet required.


Are all the meals frozen?

All meals are freshly prepared and may be frozen immediately. If you like we can refrigerate a few so you can use them the same day or the next day.

Sometimes you will get what we call a fresh meal in the sense it needs to be cooked that day for freshness… normally this applies to fish or grill entrees.

For the entrees we freeze, you can simply move your entrees from the freezer to refrigerator the night before you plan to eat them.

If you prefer all fresh food (vs any dishes frozen) the frequency of the service would increase.


How does the food taste after it’s been frozen?

The short answer is ‘as fresh as if they had just been prepared.’ Using careful cooking, cooling and packaging techniques along with understanding which foods freeze best (and which do not) we ensure the quality and freshness of the food is maintained throughout the freezing process. Specific heating instructions are included to make things simple, fast, and convenient for you.


Do I have to be home when you plan to be here?

No, and most people aren’t. Arrangements for kitchen access are made during the assessment. At Savoir we are fully bonded and insured.


How long will you be in my home?

Our service approximately will take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on the number of dishes being prepared. Please note, all dishes are scratch-made.


This sounds great, but can I afford it?

Consider what you spend on take-out food, meals at restaurants, convenience foods and what we call those ‘good intention’ purchases from the store that ultimately end up in the compost heap. When you add it all up, you will not be surprised to discover that hiring Savoir Personal Chef Services may actually be more cost effective, not to mention you are going to enjoy scratch-made food just as you prefer it. Hiring a Personal Chef is no longer a luxury afforded only by corporate America, VIPs, or the rich and famous – it’s ideal for you and your busy lifestyle!


What are the payment arrangements? Do I pay before the cook date?

Yes, it is customary to pay for the service in advance of your cooking date. If you like, you may leave a check for the upcoming cooking date on the previous cook day. The cost of groceries will be reimbursed by you on the day of service as well. Specific methods of payment will be discussed at the in-home consultation.
